Was That It?
So I was scrolling through r/CryptoMarkets this morning and saw a thread that just nailed a feeling I think a lot of us have had. A user kicked things off by asking, "WHERE WAS THE EUPHORIA?" They pointed out that their 'normie neighbors' never started asking them about Bitcoin, which has always been the classic signal that we're at the top. It got a ton of people talking, and the answers were all over the place.
The Community Is Torn
The whole thread was a perfect snapshot of the crypto world right now. You had one camp basically saying, "What are you talking about? It happened, you just missed it." People were pointing to specific moments, like User KPTA-IRON who said "March 2024 was euphoric as fuck" after doing a 10x on FET. Another user shot back, "Solana went from $8-$300 what more do you want". They argued the euphoria was definitely there, but it was just in specific coins and narratives, like AI tokens and memecoins.
Then you had the more cynical crowd. One user, Impressive-Reply-244, dropped a heavy truth bomb: "Cryptocurrency is now a game for the institutions, the 100X euphoria is a thing of the past." This idea that crypto is becoming a 'maturing asset' came up a lot. Basically, the Wild West days of everything going vertical at once are over. The big money plays differently, and it makes for a less explosive market.
And of course, there were the classic crypto arguments. Some blamed politics, some said the market manipulators were intentionally avoiding the coins that Redditors were holding, and a few even asked, "What bull run?"
My Two Cents on the Missing Hype
Here’s the deal: The game has changed. Anyone waiting for a repeat of 2017 or even 2021 is going to be disappointed. The idea of one single, massive wave of retail euphoria lifting every single coin is probably dead. Why? Because the market is smarter and way, way bigger now.
We don't have one big 'euphoria' anymore. We have pocketed euphoria. It was in AI coins for a month. Then it was in memecoins on Solana for a few weeks. It jumps from narrative to narrative. If you weren't in the right place at the right time, you felt like you were completely on the sidelines. The institutional money also dampens that retail frenzy. They buy and sell more strategically, without the wild emotion that gets your uncle asking you about Dogecoin at Thanksgiving.
This isn't FUD. It's just the reality of a maturing market. It means you have to be smarter. You can't just buy a top 20 coin and expect a 50x. You have to understand the narratives, watch the flows, and most importantly, keep your assets secure for the long haul because the market will try to shake you out every chance it gets. The easy money is gone. Now you have to earn it.
What's your take? Did you feel the euphoria this cycle, or was it a total dud for you? Let me know in the comments below!
